Vipassana Meditation, Mindfulness, and Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy

Nowadays Researchers and therapists with cognitive-behavioral approaches have interested in psychotherapeutic use of vipassana meditation. This paper inquire into buddhist meditation theory and current psychological views of vipassana meditation and its core principle ¡°mindfulness¡± and the mechanism of psychotherapeutic effects of mindfulness. Moreover, Mindfulness-Based programs, such as MBSR(Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction), MBCT(Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy), DBT(Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and ACT(Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), are introduced briefly. The meaning of Fusion of asian meditation tradition and western psychotherapy is discussed.
